Wither the Dream
Jean Montrevil is a Haitian immigrant and has lived in the United States since he was a teenager. Now he faces deportation, due to unjust laws that has put him in and out of the detention system due to several failed prior deportation attempts. Montrevil is a permanent resident of the United States. He is married to his wife, Janay, who is a U.S. citizen and together, they have 3 children.
The most recent removal, days before the January 12, 2010 earthquake which shattered Haiti, was canceled due to a quarantine.
On January 23, he was granted a conditional release with an impending removal due in 18 months due to the political climate. Since then, nothing has slowed down the Montrevils are defying the odds by buying their first home, moving into it and starting anew. The Montrevils are trying to live the American dream.
